Puerto Ricos Number One Rum Introduces Newest Expression
Puerto Rico’s number one rum, Don Q, has announced a new rum to its portfolio.
The release of Don Q Gran Reserva XO is produced with the finest reserves from the distillery located in Ponce, PR.
The Don Q Gran Reserva XO is a rebranding of the Don Q Gran Añejo, the distillery’s signature blend, presented in a newly designed bottle with the brand’s updated image. The brand’s new packaging highlights the elegance of the rum, crafted by the Serrallés family for over 155 years. It brings forth the value of Don Q’s heritage, quality, and tradition.

The Gran Reserva XO is a marriage of rums aged in American white oak barrels, between nine to 12 years, with the addition of Solera rums, aged up to 55 years. The bright amber rum has no added sugars and its tannins, subtle oak nuances, and hints of spice, help to distinguish the award-winning flavor profile. Gran Reserva XO is best served on the rocks, neat or in a classic Manhattan or Old Fashion.
“We updated the Don Q bottle design and packaging to better communicate our brand values and create a look and feel that reflected the quality and craftsmanship of the super-premium aged rum inside each bottle,” says Philippe Brechot, President and CEO of Destilería Serrallés. “This rum blend has been a stellar expression for more than 25 years. We wanted to keep the same great blend of aged rums but present it under the new name of Gran Reserva XO as it better articulates the exclusive nature of the reserve rums that are blended to produce it.”
It meets the nose with notes of tropical fruits and spice, mixed with baked apples and roasted nuts. The rum engulfs the tongue with notes of molasses, cigar tobacco, and dark caramel. Don Q Gran Reserva XO will be available for purchase starting this month for a SRP of $49.99.
