Remodelista Gift Guide 2020: Comfort Presents for Keeping Calm and Staying In

Come December just about every year, I covet all things that add softness and warmth—sheepskins, mohair blankets, thick-soled slippers, candles—as I batten down the hatches for the long winter ahead. But this year in particular, a simple amenity or two will be a welcome gift to just about anyone on your list—for weathering the winter months in warmth.

We’ve rounded up our favorite comfort objects, so to speak, that we’re giving this year (or buying for ourselves).

We love Two Dawson&#8

Margot also let us know about Calm from The School of Life (&#8

Above: From Alexa: “I treated myself to a pair of Poplin Sleepwear from Copenhagen-based company Tekla (prices start at $100; tops and bottoms sold separately). I rationalized the purchase by telling myself that pajamas are the new clothes.”

Above: The nightgown/dress hybrid had a moment this year (see The New Yorker‘s The Allure of the Nap Dress), and we fully intend on keeping it going through the winter. Here are two we love: the Day Dress (left) from Brooklyn-based shop Salter House, handmade by a small group of women in New York City and shown here in Liberty print cotton ($280 and available for pre-order) and a Nightshirt from Domi (right), shown here in roses, a delicate white print on a deep blue background ($190).

Above: “We’ve been using our Evangeline Linen throws nonstop,” reports Julie. We’re fans of all the Maine-based company’s offerings, though this Mohair Throw (shown here in rosé, $297) would make for a particularly soft addition for a winter indoors.
