The Last of Us Part 2 pre-order guide: Ellie Edition, pre-order bonuses

One of the most hotly anticipated sequels of the last few years, The Last of Us Part 2, is finally almost here. The PlayStation 4 game was originally due to be released in February, but was delayed to May 29. According to the development team, the delay happened in order to “bring the entire game up to a level of polish we would call Naughty Dog quality.” But logistical challenges around the COVID-19 pandemic pushed that release date back even further, with the new date now set for June 19.

The sequel to The Last of Us picks up five years after that game wrapped up, with a now 19-year-old Ellie taking over as protagonist. While Naughty Dog has been pretty careful about not revealing too much of the story, hackers broke into the company’s servers in late April and leaked huge spoilers ahead of the game’s release.

Naughty Dog is offering several options for purchasing The Last of Us Part 2, including special editions, digital versions, and pre-order bonuses. Below, we break down what’s included in each edition, as well as where to buy them.

The Last of Us Part 2 pre-order bonuses

Pre-ordering The Last of Us Part 2 includes two in-game bonuses: an ammo capacity upgrade and a crafting training manual. Digital Standard Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition pre-orders also come with a PlayStation Network avatar of Ellie’s tattoo, which features a moth and fern leaves.

The Last of Us Part 2 Standard Edition

The Standard Edition costs $59.99, and includes only the base game. Pre-orders will, of course, come with all eligible bonuses.

The Last of Us Part 2 Special Edition

In addition to the base game and any pre-order bonuses, the Special Edition of The Last of Us Part 2 includes a SteelBook case, a PS4 theme, PSN avatars, a digital soundtrack, and both a physical and digital art book. It costs $79.99.

The Last of Us Part 2 Collector’s Edition

The $169.99 Collector’s Edition comes with everything included in the Special Edition, as well as some extra physical swag: a 12-inch statue of Ellie, lithograph art print, replica of Ellie’s bracelet, six enamel pins, and five stickers.

The Last of Us Part 2 Ellie Edition

The limited-release Ellie Edition costs $229.99, and includes a replica of Ellie’s backpack, an embroidered patch, and a vinyl copy of the soundtrack in addition to everything included in the Collector’s Edition.
